Question 1

What do I need before logging my first batch?

Accepted Answer

Five pieces of information: the species, the substrate recipe or its dry weight, the spawn type, the inoculation date, and how many containers you started. Everything else in the batch record is optional and can be filled in later.

Question 2

Can I import an existing grow journal?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Pro accounts can export and import data as JSON. If you have notes in a spreadsheet, the practical approach is to create batches manually and paste your existing notes into each batch record, then continue logging from there.

Question 3

How many batches can I track on the free plan?

Accepted Answer

Three active batches at a time, with ninety days of harvest history. Archived batches do not count toward the active limit, so you can archive a finished batch and start a new one at any point.

Question 4

What happens to my data if I cancel Pro?

Accepted Answer

Nothing is deleted. Your account reverts to the free plan limits: three active batches remain visible and history beyond ninety days becomes read-only until you upgrade again. You can export everything before cancelling.

Question 5

How does the app suggest the next stage?

Accepted Answer

Each stage has an editable default duration based on typical cultivation timelines. The board highlights batches that have exceeded their expected time in the current stage, and you decide whether to move them. Suggestions are prompts, not automatic transitions.

Question 6

What counts as a contamination rate?

Accepted Answer

The share of containers affected by a contamination event within a batch, aggregated over time. Because it is measured per container rather than per batch, losing one tub out of twelve reads differently from losing one out of two.

Question 7

Can I compare two substrate recipes directly?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The recipe comparison view shows average biological efficiency, total yield and batch count for each saved recipe. Comparisons are only meaningful when both recipes were run with the same species, spawn rate and hydration.

Question 8

Why is my biological efficiency higher than I expected?

Accepted Answer

The most common cause is measuring substrate weight after hydrating rather than dry. Biological efficiency uses dry substrate weight as the denominator, so a wet measurement inflates the result. Check the recipe ingredient list and the water line.

Question 9

Who can see my grow data?

Accepted Answer

Only you. Every table is protected by row level security, so the database returns your rows to your signed-in session and nothing else. Photos live in a private storage bucket scoped to your user folder.

Question 10

How do I export or delete my data?

Accepted Answer

Settings includes CSV and JSON export of all batches, harvests, contamination events and recipes. Account deletion is also in Settings and requires a typed confirmation; it removes your data permanently.

Question 11

How does billing work?

Accepted Answer

Pro is billed monthly at seven US dollars or yearly at sixty-nine US dollars through Stripe. You can change or cancel the subscription at any time from the billing section of Settings, which opens the Stripe customer portal.

Question 12

Do you send marketing email?

Accepted Answer

No. Email is limited to account messages and the reminders you configure yourself. Reminders can be switched off per reminder, and you can disable email entirely and keep in-app reminders only.

Question 13

Does the app tell me which mushrooms are safe to eat?

Accepted Answer

No. Mushroom.casa Grow Log does not identify wild mushrooms and provides no edibility, dosing or consumption guidance. It is a record-keeping tool for cultivation you are already carrying out.

Question 14

Are there legal restrictions on growing mushrooms?

Accepted Answer

Cultivation rules vary widely by country, state and municipality, and they differ by species. You are responsible for checking and following the rules that apply where you live before you start a grow.

Question 15

Do you give medical or health advice?

Accepted Answer

No. The app makes no medical or health claims and none of its content should be read as medical advice.

Question 16

What reminders does the app send?

Accepted Answer

General cultivation reminders you configure yourself: upcoming stage changes, expected flush windows, and recurring misting or fan checks. They are scheduling prompts, not safety-critical alerts.
